Frequently Asked Questions

What is ishtar?

We are a Brooklyn-based art and antiques studio.
We find, restore, and rehome antique and vintage furniture and art – each piece a survivor of time and treated as a story worth preserving.
Our motto: old ish made new.

Do you buy antiques?

No – we don’t buy or appraise antiques.
Every piece in our collection is personally sourced, restored, and curated.
If you’re looking to sell an item, we recommend reaching out to local antique dealers, estate sale companies, or online consignment platforms.

Where do your pieces come from?

We source throughout the tri-state area – from old homes, estates, and auctions.
Many pieces originate from Europe and the Middle East, carrying their makers’ marks and histories through time.

Do you offer restoration services for clients?

At this time, ishtar focuses on restoring our own curated inventory.
We don’t currently take outside restoration projects, but we may offer limited commissions in the future – join our mailing list or follow us on Instagram for updates.

Can I see a piece in person before buying?

Yes! We welcome appointments to view pieces in person at our studio in Brooklyn (by appointment only).
Simply reach out through our contact form or DM us on Instagram @ishtarnyc to schedule a visit.

Do you ship?

Yes. We ship across the U.S. using trusted white-glove and freight services.
For local customers, we also offer curbside delivery within NYC for a flat $50.
Shipping quotes vary depending on the item’s size and destination – we’ll coordinate every detail with you before checkout.

All Sales Final

All sales are final. Each ishtar piece is one-of-a-kind, often carrying age, history, and patina that reflect its past.
We’re happy to provide detailed photos, videos, and condition notes before purchase so you can feel completely confident in your decision.
Please don’t hesitate to ask questions before checkout – we want you to love your piece as much as we do.

Do you offer trade or designer discounts?

Yes, we love working with interior designers, stylists, and trade partners.
Reach out through our contact page with your credentials or project details to discuss trade pricing and sourcing.

Can you help me find a specific piece?

Possibly! If you’re looking for a particular style, era, or material, we can sometimes source through our network of pickers and collectors.
Send us an example or inspiration photo – we’ll keep an eye out as we source.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and PayPal through our online shop.

How should I care for my antique piece?

Gently – less is more.
Use a soft, dry cloth for regular dusting and avoid harsh cleaners or polishes.
We’re happy to include simple care tips specific to your piece upon purchase.
